Roads are opened and the massive convoy of caravans are heading into Karumba keen to chase the Barramundi
Back in Business
On Saturday 7th of April the roads finally opened up and there was a massive convoy of caravans alike from Croydon and Cloncurry heading into Karumba keen to chase the Barramundi. The season is now starting and we are keen as mustard to get it going.
This Thursday we have milk arriving on the truck from IGA in Atherton. The price is $3.80 for 2 Litres and there is a limited amount available. As the season rolls on we will increase our order. This is the cheapest milk you will get in Karumba.

Fish Scrap Trial
As of Friday 13th April we are installing a freezer at the Fish Cleaning Area. We will supply bags for you to place all fish scraps into after filleting to which should be double bagged, tied off and put into the freezer. Please avoid water going in with the scraps as much as possible. On Bin day, our staff will transfer the bags into a wheelie bin for collection. Under no circumstances are any scraps to be put into the fish bins. This is to eliminate the aroma that fish scraps create.
2018 Cancer Council Fundraiser
For the last two years we have raised money for the Cancer Council by doing things a little out of the ordinary. In 2016 we held a fashion parade that unfortunately, I will never forget. It involved the male staff members dressing up in ladies fashions and parading in front of about 100 patrons. That night we raised $715.10.
In 2017 we held a 70s Disco to which all were encouraged to dress up in 70’s fashions and dance the night away. That night we raised $884.10.
This year for 2018 we are going do have a Country Hoedown where you could get dressed up in your best cowboy/cowgirl outfit and slap down on some good ol’ country music. We will advise more of when and what in next week’s croc. Stay tuned.
Commonly Asked Questions This week we will look at :
What does the Ferryman Sunset Cruise do?
The Ferryman Sunset Cruise leaves from the boat ramp in town and travels upriver whilst providing expert commentary about Karumba and its industries. They feed birds off the front of the boat and do a u turn at the ship wreck. The boat then heads down toward the river mouth looking for Crocodiles and are often seen. The boat then goes out into the gulf waters in the shipping channel and you get to view the Sunset from the boat while feasting on prawns, fruit and biscuit platters and then even a sweets platter. Cruises start soon. This is a very relaxing cruise and you can book through us here at the Sunset Caravan Park.
Is there a Service Station in town?
Yes there are two. Point Fuels are out here at Karumba Point on Col Kitching Drive and Carpentaria Fuels are in Karumba itself on the corner of Walker and Yappar Streets
Do you get TV reception in Karumba?
Yes we do. We get all the free to air digital tv channels except for 9Life and 7Flix.
Is there a Information Centre in Karumba?
Yes there is and they are located on Walker Street in Karumba itself.
Can we get a grassed site?
Depends. If you are here during or just after the wet, there is a fair chance that there will be grass. Unfortunately the rain stops by April and we see very little rain until the storms start on October/November so the grass fades away.
